Gift Certificates Available for Your Favorite Angler! The Deerfield River Fly Fishing Report for 12/7/2019: The Deerfield is a winter wonderland, with deep snow on its banks! Dont let that stop you from fishing as the Deerfield is a productive river year round, with some of the biggest trout of the year caught in the middle of winter. Winter float trips are beautiful and highly productive, with double digits common on most floats. Right now its predominantly indicator fishing and some streamer fishing too. Whichever you choose fish close to the bottom. Clown eggs, stoneflies, san juans, small nymphs and midges are all working. Look for fish adjacent to heavy current in the softer seams and buckets and in deep holes. The fishing on the Swift has been equally good, my last trip a week ago yielded 9 trout in 4 hours! Use the same flies as the DF only smaller and on much lighter tippet. Winter trips are 5 hours from 10-3, easy drive out and no need to get up early! And the fishing can be outstanding!
