The Deerfield River Fishing Report 9/24/2019: The fishing out on the Deerfield has been decent even though the low water conditions over the last couple weeks has limited the floatable water. Fishing has still been a morning or evening proposition with the middle of the day being tough sledding. That being said I’ve had some great trips fishing light tippet (6x) under a tiny indicator for these spooky trout and done well. Mops, midges, and some Iso’s and Cahills have been the go to choices- all fished on light floro, Same thing over on the Swift, mornings and evenings have been best and light tippets and stealthy presentations. The rain has arrived and the leaves are already changing, the stocking trucks will be making their rounds in the coming weeks so I expect the fishing to take off any day now and turn into the all-day, fall fishing we crave before the snow flies. I have open dates for October but dont wait too long! Tight Lines!
