The Deerfield River Fly Fishing Report for 6/13/2020: Fishing continues to be awesome on the Deerfield, with morning and evening being the best time to fish-midday has been siesta time. The rain we recieved really kicked the bugs back into gear and the fish responded too. The upper Deerfield had a robust hatch of March Browns and small tan caddis- tie or buy some x caddis and have them in olive and tan from 14-16-18 and you’ll send me a holiday card. I’ve been structuring my trips to get on the water for prime feeding times-and it really is about timing until October in terms of dry fly action. The Swift is fishing well but the amount of kayakers is truly astounding, there are sulphurs hatching in the evening and a spinner fall at dark just like the lower DF, be sure to carry bugs a size or two smaller than on other rivers. Im filling up pretty quickly but there are always cancellations that you can slide into and plenty of dates in the coming weeks- give me a shout. We are Covid free out here and would like to keep it that way- if you are feeling ill, if one of your family members are ill or you’ve had contact with someone that is ill please stay home! Please bring a mask- a Buff is fine and please bring your own food and beverages. Look forward to seeing you on the water!
