The Deerfield River Fishing Report for 1/20/2020: Let’s cut right to the chase! The winner of the free half day float trip for two is Molly Hastings- congrats Molly! You can email me at [email protected] or call me at 413-325-1677 to choose the date for your float trip. A big thank you for everyone who stopped by my table at Marlboro- there’s plenty of prime dates still open in the calendar. If you’re curious as to what a float trip with yours truly is like I will be featured next month at On The Water TV on Comcast Sports Network- a Sunday morning fishing show that covers fishing opportunities in New England and beyond. I also have articles coming out in On The Water magazine and Eastern Fly Fishing this coming season too. For those of you who have been feeling a little cabin fever the fishing on the Deerfield has been outstanding- every day that’s been above 35 degrees has the potential for double digit catches of big rainbows and browns- in fact, the biggest brown trout of the season are typically caught in February and March so give me a shout if you want to go. The Deerfield is not only productive in the winter but incredibly beautiful- you’ll be looking up at the snow covered Berkshires and the river is soooo quiet that you can hear chickadees and other critters doing their thing in the forest along the banks- so cool! Hope all of you have a safe and productive fishing season this year-cheers!
